Mt.fuji view from Daibosatsu Touge

Mt.Fuji is not only highest mountain(3776m) in japan but also most loved mountain by japanese. It's symbol of Japan, as with Sakura. It was registered as a World Cultural Heritage Site in June 2013 cause Mt.Fuji fostered the great works of art from ancient times. Expected about 400,000 tourist will visit in 2013.

We'll give fresh information about climbing mt.Fuji. Check detailed information on each Tracks page.

When to Hike

1July to 31 August is climbing season so lodges are open. You can use toilet(\100-\300), take a rest, and buy snacks or noodles. After this season, almost lodges'll close(toilet close too) and public transport'll reduce. First snow on Mt.Fuji is 12 September, at last year(2012). So begginer should climb at climbing season. We recommend go to after rainy season and weekday.

How to get 5th Station

Bybus?
The easiest and cheapest way to trail head is to use the direct bus from Tokyo to Fuji Subaru Line 5th sta.(trail head of Yoshida track). Next choice is going to Kawaguchi-ko Sta. by bus or train. then take the bus to 5th sta. Anyway, Yoshida track is the easiest way both of approach and climb.
About other 3tracks, train and bus are operated on climbind season, too. Check each tracks pege we give bus timetable and fee from key train station.

By car?
There are four roads to each 5th station. Fuji subaru Line(to Yoshida route) and Fuji sky line(to Fujinomiya route) are toll road. Fuji Azami line is not toll road. These three road have road restriction on summer season. At each Tracks page, we'll give road restriction schedule, official parking, fees etc.

Planning

Generally, it takes 6-8 hours up to Summit and 4 hours for descend.
There are 4 tipes of popular plan.

Plan A

Start around noon, hike 4 hours and stay at lodge around 8th sta. Take short rest and start at midningt again. Hike 3hours and reach 3am. Wait sunrise(called Go-Raikou) till 4.5am and descend a mountain around 6am and reach 5th sta. in the morning. This is the most popular plan cacuse of you can see sunrize at top. The downsides are booking of lodge is hard on weekend, and route to the top is the congestion.

Plan B

Similar to the No.1plan above. The difference is time of restart. After seeing sunrize in front of lodge then start lodge. It's can avoid congestion near top and take long rest.

Plan C

If you use car by 5th sta. this is reasonable plan. Racha at 5th sta. in the evening. Take sleep in your car, and start after sunrize. Climb 8 hours and reach at top till noon, and descend a mountain afternoon and reach 5th sta. till sunset.

Plan D

Overnight climb. Start around 20pm, climb up 7 hours and reach at top of Fuji at around 4am. Wait sunrise(called Go-Raikou) till 4.5am and descend a mountain around 6am and reach 5th sta. in the morning. It's named "DANGAN TOZAN", the province ask to stop it recntry.

Tracks

There are 4 tracks to top of the mountain. Click the link below. You can get the info of each route, buses time table to each trail head, parking info .

Yosihida track

The most popular track, because good location(near the kawaguchi-ko Sta.), plenty of Yamagoya. Fuge amount of people make you mad, but, for foreigner I recommend.

Fujinomiya Track

The second popular track, the most short distance.Attraction of this route is to climb back to the Pacific Ocean, but it can also be overlooking the Suruga Bay, weather permitting.

Subashiri Track

You can enjoy quiet climbing, cause user is smaller than Fujinomiya and Yoshida track. Short forest hiking and many alpine plants are there until 6th sta. The sand running down the steep slope of the gravel descent is good.

Gotemba Track

The longest track than others. Cause of hikers less you can enjoy quietry walk. Big attraction is very long sand ran called SUNA-BASHIRI.
